As a child, I would play with my mother’s jewelry box, knowing that what is inside is not meant for me. inheritance deals with what I am not supposed to receive as a son - a love of adornment and bodily fluidity - yet still do.

Red lipstick denotes both the body’s inside and outside, being a cosmetic adornment that mimics blood flow. Applied to rocks, lipstick turns them into tokens of sensitivity and openness for the body to new possibilities for feeling and transformation. Packed into boxes as keepsakes, they present an alternative to what I can take as a given.
